Something we tell every client before they commit to the journey of tattoo removal is that water increases blood circulation in the body and this aids in the removal process.
How does water increase blood circulation?
For starters, let’s remember that water makes up a large portion of our bodies which is why it is so important for us to be drinking it throughout the day. Mainly in the skin, water plumps the skin, supports the skin barrier, improves and supports elasticity, increases circulation, moisturizes the skin, supports detoxification and also relieves itchy dry skin. This is just to name a few as water quite literally supports our entire body. When talking to a client I like to mention how when you are dehydrated your blood actually thickens because your body tries to conserve water. This decreases your blood volume which means less blood flow to your vital organs and extremities. Thicker blood means less water in the blood stream and slower moving blood.
When broken down you can see exactly what effect water could have on the process. Our white blood cells are moving shattered ink particles at a molecular level fully relying on blood circulation to flush through the lymphatic system. Drinking water and staying hydrated not only supports healing, skin integrity and overall health but it supports the blood flow which is the only way your body can discard ink particles. This is one factor we can control throughout a process that has multiple uncontrollable variables. This is why we HIGHLY encourage every client to stay hydrated throughout the process.
